WORKBOOK INCLUDED!
RSVP Traffic Engineering (RSVP-TE) is a critical MPLS mechanism used by service providers to control and optimize traffic flows across their backbone networks. Unlike traditional IGP-based routing, which forwards traffic purely based on shortest-path calculations, RSVP-TE allows for explicit path selection, enabling better bandwidth utilization, congestion avoidance, and fast reroute (FRR) capabilities.
It works by setting up label-switched paths (LSPs) with reserved resources, ensuring predictable performance for high-priority traffic like voice, video, and financial transactions. With support for constraint-based routing, link coloring, and backup tunnels,
RSVP-TE provides an essential toolset for delivering highly available, QoS-driven service provider networks.
