Hierarchical Virtual Private LAN Service (H-VPLS) is an advanced extension of VPLS (Virtual Private LAN Service) that enhances scalability and efficiency for large service provider networks. By introducing MTU (Multi-Tenant Unit) switches or U-PE (User-facing Provider Edge) devices, H-VPLS reduces the number of full mesh connections, optimizing network performance and resource utilization.
This lab covers the full lifecycle of H-VPLS configuration, including Pseudowires, MPLS encapsulation, route targets, BGP or LDP signaling, and redundancy mechanisms.
Mastering H-VPLS is crucial for delivering high-speed, flexible Layer 2 VPNs in modern service provider environments.
